Hostility, hate and intensity are the only words that come to mind when thinking about Tuesday’s prime-time match up of Middletown South (#1 Public) vs Howell (#4 Public).

Middletown South Eagles
The number one ranked public school in the state enters this game with a tie against CBA, two wins over Mondon and a mercy against SJV. The Eagles are lead by senior Defensemen Chris Malamut, forward Matt Johnson, Brett Johnson, and junior Zach England. The Eagles are considered the best public school in the state because of a strong top six defensive core of Malamut, Burns, Littenberg, Ditzel, Himmelberg and Nielsen. Midd South’s best weapon is in net, Chris Marsillo. The man they call “Crispy” is having a sensational year so far in net. In there first four games (3-0-1) the Eagles have outscored their opponents 28-2.

3 Keys to the game
1) Quick start, Howell will have a tough time playing from behind. There is no margin for error playing tied or in the lead.
2) Utilizing the 3rd D-Pairing and 3rd line. Howell can not roll 2 defensive pairings and 2 lines the whole game, by the 3rd period they will be extremely tired.
3) Top 3 production, Pyskaty needs to lead by example. How so? Scoring goals, big hits and smart decisions, Kochenash/Leiro need to do the same.

ReplyDeleteGood Article Mark. I think Middletown South is just to deep for Howell but if that top line on Howell plays outstanding they have a chance. The only reason I believe it may not be close is because of that second line for Howell. I saw Howell play against SJV and was not impressed at all by any line other then the Pyskaty, Leiro, Kochenash line. Overall final predictor from a neutral fan. Middtown South 5 Howell 3
ReplyDeleteeven though i havent seen howell play this year i saw mid south i think the only way that howell can win is if they get south to take alot of penalties its the only reason why we didnt lose 2-0 the goalie was very good dmen didnt impress me i thought our forwards (cba) did a poor job of taking the chances we had

howell needs to throw pucks at the net and get garbage goals souths goaltender was very strong but there were occasions where he let up juicy rebounds that we did not converge on and their dmen did so that is crucial for howell
Zach peras needs to come up HUGE for this one the johnson brothers along with a couple other players on south are extremely talented and move the puck very well i disagree with your statement mark with rolling 3 lines this is most certainly a game were the 2 lines need to eat 40 mins of ice because i dont think your d will be able to match the speed of the forwards from south
BOTTOM LINE i think it will be close but youll lose 4-1 i could see you tied at 1 or down 2-1 going into the third but south running away with it towards the end south is very physical and i think that along with their speed will wear your team down who hasnt faced a team this strong since Randolph in states and look how that turned out... and other then that game you have not face a very strong team so your inexperienced in that sense dont get me it will be one hell of game but i do not see it turning out how howell fans will like it

ReplyDeletemiddtown south just has to stop a couple players while Howell has to stop 2 lines..I play travel hockey but don't play high school and know many players on both teams. If Buckley were to play for Howell it would be a good game because that would be 4 great forwards which is a lot different on a team then 3 great forwards. But i don't see enough depth in Howell's roster to handle the Johnson brothers...it's going to be a blowout. 7-2 Eagles over the Rebels.
